Basic Internet Terminology
  1. Intranet - An intranet is an internal network limited to a specific boundary, such as a building, that uses Internet standards. Although the intranet uses all the standards of the Internet, it is not always connected to the Internet.
  2. URL (Uniform Resource Locator) - This is an address for a resource on the Internet. URLs are used by web browsers to locate Internet resources.
  3. Browser - Browser is a software that helps a user to access files and software related to HTML documents.
  4. Domain - A domain is a group of websites on the Internet that end in the same group. Ex- .com refers to the business of the site, the organizational type of the .org site. The domain is the last part of the address.
  5. Domain name - A domain name is a name that identifies a website or group of websites on the Internet.
  6. Domain name system - Domain name system is called DNS in short. It is a sequential system by which hosts on the Internet have both a domain name address and an IP address.
  7. Hyper link - Hyperlink is a relationship between one element in a hyper text document, such as a word, a different element in the document, another document, a file, or a legend. The user activates the links by clicking on the linked elements.
  8. Hyper text - Hyper text is the text stored in a computer system, which contains links that help the user to move from one part of the text or document to another.
  9. Hyper media - Hyper media is a system that connects files containing pictures, voices or videos with text.
  10. Free ware - Freeware is that type of computer software, which is given free of cost to any software, especially for use from the Internet.
  11. Shareware - Shareware is a type of computer software that is available for free for any user to test, after which they have to pay a price if they want to continue using it.
  12. Spyware - Spyware is software that is sent with software that you download from the Internet and collects your personal information such as which websites you access or what you fill in an online form. , and uses this information to create a profile without your consent.
  13. Blog - A type of website is used all over the world for weblog. The entries made are shown in reverse order. Often blogs provide commentary or news on a topic.
  14. Website - Website is a place connected to the Internet where a company or an organization or an individual keeps information.
  15. Webpage - Webpage The document that is linked to WWW and which can be viewed by anyone with an internet connection.
  16. Homepage - Homepage is the main page created on the Internet by a company, organization, etc., through which links can be made to other pages.
  17. Protocol - Protocol is a set of rules that control the way data is sent between computers.
  18. Search Engine - A search engine is a computer program that searches the Internet for information by performing a special search of documents containing specific words or word groups.
  19. Server - Server is a computer program that provides information to, and controls, multiple computers connected to a network or Server is the main computer on which the server program is run.

  23. Cracker - A person who breaks the security systems of a computer and gains unauthorized access to illegally obtain information from a computer system.
  24. Download - Download is the process of moving data from a large computer to a small computer. It is the process of passing data from server to client.
  25. Upload - Upload is a process of transferring data from a small computer to a large computer.
  26. Portal - Electronic portal is a website that provides information related to the sale and purchase of goods.
